الخوف من الاستحمام، نصائح للتغلب عليها

Fear of showering: tips to overcome it

Usually, the baby's bath is one of the parts that he loves and looks forward to the most, but from personal experience, the matter suddenly turned into something resembling a nightmare. I spent a lot of time convincing him and making things easier. Every time, he kept screaming, crying, and trying to get out of the bathroom. After reading and researching, I succeeded in returning things to normal through the following steps:

1- Talk to your child and find out the reason for his fear. In my little one's case, he told me that he was afraid of water getting on his face and eyes. He didn't refuse to use water to wash his body, but his real problem was washing his hair. So, talking calmly with him helped me find out the real reason.

2- Buy him a hat to protect him from water getting on his face. It is sold in large stores and pharmacies as well. I told him how a hat can protect him and we tried using it and it worked!

3- Bring his favorite toys. This had a magical effect, as he was busy washing his favorite toys while I washed his hair quietly.

4- I started using a cup to wash my hair and started removing the soap from the back.

5- Convince the child about the next activity that we will share together, such as reading his favorite story.

6- Take the child to buy his favorite shampoo and the scent he prefers.

7- Buying a bath toy can help make the task easier. The toys are often stuck to the wall and the child puts water and soap inside them to make bubbles. This keeps them busy and makes bathing fun.

8- Filling the bathtub with water and bubbles is one of the things that children love the most.

9- Reduce the duration of your shower and have everything you need ready, such as a towel and shampoo, and adjust the temperature before you start showering.

10- Read him lots of stories about bathing steps. Choose colorful stories with large illustrations to attract his attention.

Don't worry, dear mother. It's just a temporary situation and it will pass. You have to be patient and talk to him constantly. Remember not to force him to take a shower, as this will make the situation worse.
